| Breathing Meditation |
To reduce thinking, clear the mind, and become more grounded, while sitting or lying comfortably, close your eyes.
Without making any effort to change it, pay attention to how you are breathing. Slow or fast? Deep or shallow? In the chest or in the stomach? Through the nostrils or the mouth?
Focus on the air as it moves through your nostrils.
Then focus on the air as it enters your mouth.
Then focus on the air as it enters your lungs.
Notice whether and how your stomach moves.
Now as you begin to inhale, imagine energy entering your body with the air. Follow that energy into your lungs. And as you exhale, imagine it leaving your body through your legs and feet.
When thoughts enter your mind, be aware of them, and gently let them go as you return to awareness of your breathing.
Try to avoid getting absorbed in a train of thought. Minimize "thinking," or forming words in your mind.
