Introduction

The Overview Section presents resources that address society as a whole with a systemic, or holistic, perspective.

Unfortunately, finding these resources is difficult, for most writers and organizations adopt a narrow focus. So readers are encouraged to inform us about additional entries that should be included.

Our aim is to better understand how society functions as a well-integrated, self-perpetuating social system. This awareness, we believe, leads to greater clarity about the need to change that system fundamentally, from one form into another, by transforming how our society is organized.

Inner personal experiences, social interactions, passing on values and ideas, conducting business, and implementing public policy -- the personal, the social, the cultural, the economic, and the political -- all influence one another. The kind of people we are determines the kind of society we have, and the kind of society we have determines the kind of people we are. We can't change the one without changing the other.
