Introduction

A healthy natural environment is also essential to individual and social fulfillment. With the looming threat of multiple catastrophes induced by global scorching, the environment is increasing in importance. Immediate action to deal with the risks associated with human-caused climate change is imperative. And we need to move rapidly toward using renewable resources -- such as water, soil, forest products, and marine life -- without exceeding the rates of regeneration for those resources.
