Service Organizations

  • America Connects. The America Connects Consortium (ACC) supports the work of community technology centers (CTCs) across the country. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, ACC provides technical assistance to centers funded through the federal CTC program. Through training, evaluation, resource development, and research, ACC supports the use of information technology to improve achievement in education and enrich community life.
  • ConsultantCommons.org. An online collaboration space and community for non-profit technical assistance providers to collaboratively build and share knowledge. The system is designed so that consultants can find, contribute and collaborate on tools and information they use to maintain a consultancy and provide services to nonprofits. Has an RSS feed so you can see new postings and news in your RSS reader.
  • Community Technology Centers’ Network. A US-based network of more than 1000 organizations united in their commitment to improve the educational, economic, cultural and political life of their communities through technology. Provides resources and advocacy to improve the quality and sustainability of community technology centers and programs at the local, national and international level. Works together with its member organizations to provide networking, capacity building, program development, and partnership opportunities.
  • Groundspring.org. A nonprofit organization that provides easy-to-use and affordable services for small to medium-sized nonprofit organizations to help them become effective users of Internet technology in their fundraising and management of donors and supporters. They offer DonateNow for online donation processing, EmailNow for email messaging, AdvocacyNow for online advocacy, and ebase for community relationship management. Groundspring also offers training workshops nationwide and online, and free online resources.
  • Npower -- "a national network of local nonprofits that help thousands of nonprofits each year to expand their impact through the strategic use of technology."
  • Organizers' Collaborative -- "a membership organization of activists and technology consultants dedicated to providing social change groups with proven, easy-to-use technology and support that is specific to the needs of organizers. OC provides: Focused training and assistance coupled with expertise in organizing; Technological best practices and free, customized, state of the art software; Online infrastructure to link organizations, individuals and organizing resources.... facilitates the use of low-cost, easy to use, and open source technologies in order to strengthen individual grassroots organizations and unify the progressive movement."
  • Personal Democracy Forum -- "Technology and the Internet are changing democracy in America. We envision this site as one hub for the conversation already underway between political practitioners and technologists, as well as anyone invigorated by the potential of all this to open up the process and engage more people in all the things that we can and must do together as citizens."
