Governing Policies

Name: Progressive Resource Catalog

Mission: to improve the quality of life for all Americans by creating a more compassionate, just, sustainable, and democratic society that treats other nations fairly as members of a global community that no one country should try to dominate.

By “progressive,” we mean the affirmation of:

  • steady positive progress;
  • the essential goodness of human beings and life in general;
  • the empowerment of the individual and the community;
  • a positive, important role for government.

We affirm comprehensive, fundamental transformation -- that is, changing the primary purpose of our society and reforming all of our institutions, our culture, and ourselves to help fulfill that purpose.

Methods:

  • Establishing a website that will present resources that Americans can use to advance progressive systemic transformation by promoting positive change throughout society, including personal, spiritual, social, cultural, economic, educational, environmental, and political change.
  • Include introductory essays and other literature that will address the connections between various issues and the need for simultaneous reform in all spheres of life.
  • Highlight the best resources in each area.
  • Utilize collaborative software to maximize participation from contributors and facilitate constant updates.
  • Enable readers to submit comments about the site for publication on the site.
  • Conduct outreach and publicity, both online and using other methods.
  • Organize and participate in public educational and social events.
  • The Background section will present the basic philosophical framework for the Catalog.

Structure:

  • The Editor is responsible for the content and design of the catalog.
  • The Editor will:
    • delegate authority to others as needed, but will remain ultimately responsible for the project.
    • amend these Policies as need be and post them here.
    • establish a website using collaborative software that will maximize input from collaborators while guarding against vandalism to the site. Any visitor to the site will be able to edit the Catalog directly.
    • invite others to join as co-equal Editors.
